The mental health continuum
There are many degrees of “mental wellness,” and mental health and mental illness are not opposing conditions. Many people affected by a mental illness can have positive mental well-being, while others may feel that day-to-day life is a struggle. They may feel that they are unsuccessful or alone, and they may experience life’s setbacks more deeply, whether or not they have been diagnosed with a mental illness.1
