Cultivate interests outside the family

Things are not always going to go smoothly. The following strategies can help you cope in times of stress and discomfort.

Physical

Take time for regular exercise. Join a club or gym. Take walks or participate in sports or yoga.

Emotional

Focus on your needs. Spend time with a friend. Do something just for you, such as reading, keeping a journal or developing a hobby.

Spiritual

Develop and appreciate your spiritual life. Take time to breathe. Learn to meditate and practise it each day if it helps you slow down. Regular use of meditation and relaxation are associated with reduced stress.
