Managing crises

Crises can cause significant distress and disruption in the family, and can be a frightening experience for both you and your relative. There are some things that you can do to de-escalate the situation before your relative harms themselves, is aggressive toward others or damages property. The following suggestions can help you to deal with a situation in which your relative is becoming agitated and distressed. If the safety of the person or others is at risk, disengage and seek help.
