Supporting your relative’s recovery

Empathize (don’t argue)

If your relative expresses unusual or confused thoughts or beliefs, don’t argue with them even if you don’t agree. Instead of arguing, you can empathize with and validate their underlying feelings, such as fear, confusion, frustration or uncertainty.
