When can your relative stop taking medication?

Medications for psychosis should be taken even after the symptoms disappear. When medication is discontinued too early, there is a high risk that symptoms will return. This does not necessarily happen right away, but can happen months after a medication is stopped. It is important for you and your relative to discuss with the physician how long they should remain on medication.
