Treatment for psychosis

Treatment for psychosis includes:

    medications
    psychosocial approaches and interventions
individual and group psychoeducation for both you and your relative.

Psychoeducation provides information about psychosis, including symptoms, causes, treatment and how to manage symptoms and side-effects. It also includes information on the recovery process, maintaining a sense of well-being and learning how to prevent a recurrence of psychosis. Psychoeducation helps your relative develop skills such as stress management, problem solving and other life skills.

Counselling, crisis management and peer support groups are also available. Treatment begins by working with people to address and reduce their symptoms and supporting them in areas where their life may be affected, including school, career, relationships and other daily activities.
