5. Staying safe and managing crises
Collaborating with the care team
Collaboration in a crisis, when anxiety and uncertainty are high, can be difficult. One helpful technique is preparing a one or two page description of the person’s history and prior medication response before an emergency situation occurs. This summary can be updated as needed. It can be given to crisis workers or emergency room nurses if there is a need for quick intervention.
After you have dealt with the emergency, remember to get support for yourself. You could consider joining or reconnecting with a support group, or reaching out to supportive friends or family members.
