Unacceptable behaviours

Though you must use your own judgment to set limits, in general, the following behaviours are unacceptable (Bartha et al., 2001):

Physical aggression, such as pushing, grabbing or pinching
Emotional abuse, such as yelling profanities or verbally aggressive threats
Property damage, such as damaging furniture or cars
Setting fires or creating fire hazards, such as smoking in bed
Stealing from family, friends or others
Using alcohol or other substances, which may complicate their experience with psychosis
Financial mismanagement, such as engaging in spending sprees
Severely disruptive behaviours, such as insisting that all family members eat only certain foods, refusing to let anyone use the phone or barricading the doors
