Negative symptoms

Negative symptoms refer to symptoms that result in lost or reduced functioning. These are often not as obvious as positive symptoms. They may include:

    restricted emotional and facial expressions
    restricted speech and verbal fluency
    difficulty generating ideas or thoughts
    reduced ability to begin tasks
    reduced socialization and motivation.
