Supporting and understanding recovery
Recovery is a process that is unique to everyone. It takes time and involves learning new ways of coping and behaving. It can be helpful for you to understand where your relative is in regard to the stages of change, and how you might support them at different stages. However, remember that you are not responsible for the recovery of your relative. While there are things you can do, there are other things that are beyond your control. Accept your lack of control.
