How can I get my relative to stop using substances?
Unfortunately, you may not be able to get your relative to stop using substances even if you believe their use is a problem. People must decide for themselves whether to use substances or to stop using. They must also be motivated to change. You may feel angry, frustrated and annoyed with your relative if they are not ready or interested in making a change, which is understandable. Though you may not be able to get your relative to stop using substances, you can still play an important role in encouraging change.
