In this module, we looked at risk factors that can lead to the development of substance use problems. We learned about concurrent disorders and addiction, and explored reasons why people use substances and why it may be difficult to stop using. Understanding these concepts will help you better understand and support your relative. In the next module, we will explore the impact of substance use problems on families.
